Mental illness, unemployment, jealousy and illegitimacy are some of the issues covered in a six-part family crisis series starting Monday night on Shaw Cable. Each half-hour National Film Board production will be shown starting at 7 p.m. Monday for six weeks. First in the series is A Gift for Kate, a lowed by The Last Right, on terminal illness, and A Single Regret, on a man and his illegitimate son. The final two programs in the series are Out of a Job, on unemployment and underemployment, and Running Scared, a story of obsessive jealousy. Series host is Wally Lee of NEB. Following each film, Lee will discuss the issues raised with Victoria counsellor Dr. Anneli Driessen. story on mental illness. Second is One -| Step Away, on juvenile delinquency, fol- Driessen, who holds a doctorate in counselling psychology from Columbia Pacific University, was the guest commen- tator when the series was shown in Nanaimo, Parksville and Duncan. The series and commentary was well- received in those communities, she said. “The movies are excellent. They’re designed to help people to think about issues that do happen in families.” The series has been repeated in Nan- aimo and Driessen has been invited to do a phone-in series this spring.
