_ Turning Saanich Inlet into a
national park preserve is a possi-
bility being explored by a Central-
Saanich-based society.

But notification of an upcoming
meeting seeking input on that idea
drew the ire of Cowichan Valley
Regional District directors Wed-
nesday.

The Saanich Inlet Protection
Society invited the regional dis-
trict to attend the Feb. 3 meeting at
Dunsmuir Lodge in North Saa-
nich. The board decided to
respond by writing back objecting
to the short notice.

The letter — signed by society

chairman Ariene Box and work-
shop chairman Rick Hudson —
asked the regional district to retum
a form by Jan. 19.

Some regional district board
members also objected to what
they consider outside interference
in their affairs.

part of Saanich, who has had more
to say about our business up here
than we have,” said Lome Camp-
