The second major issue facing North Saanich is the proposed upgrading of the Pat Bay Highway to freeway status, Michaluk said. “North Saanich has stated that we don’t wish to see a freeway but at the same tume we recognize and urge that the safety problem be addressed,” Michaluk said. “One way to do that is to get more money from the province for policing what is really a provincial highway.” Michaluk said sewage is the third major issue facing North Saanich in 1990. “This year we can say we’ve moved into a new sphere,” she said. “Because of the outcome of the referendum people should not be afraid to fix their septic fields, because it’s obvious that sewering is not possible for the southeast quadrant and Deep Cove,” she said. ‘T plan to remain firm in my resolve fo keep North Saanich rural and not release land from the ALR for development Purposes’ The major task for council in the next year will be the overhauling of two of the municipality’s major _ *Review ene, January 3; 1990 — A21 bylaws. Michaluk laughed and replied: “Maybe I should have some kind of political goal mapped out but I don’t. “I just want to do the best job I can aS mayor.” MAYOR LINDA MICHALUK Wetome li ine | Sidney, Prices Effective Jan. 2 - 6/90 We Reserve the Right to Limit Quantities {F00Ds —HAPPY NEW YEARS— FIRST OF 1990 STOREWIDE SALES.
