Peninsula lacrosse president Larry Scott said this is the first year the BCLA has awarded scho-= larships. “Hopefully in the next few years we'll be able to get scholarships to B.C. universities,” Scott said. Four years ago there was 50 players in the Peninsula lacrosse organization, with B teams the highest ranking. For the 1990 season Scott expects upwards of 200 players on A and B teams ranging from mini-tykes right up to midgets. “We hope to institute more of these scholarships to give (youn- ger players) something to shoot for,” Scott said. With recent expansion the local Lacrosse gaining recognition, slowly organization is experiencing, more recognition from the provincial and federal sports organizations is sure to follow, Scott said.
