This was from 1958 to 1959 and it was called the Head Street School. By January, 1960;. The Esquimalt Senior High was built and the old ‘school was officially Esquimalt Junior Secondary. The principal was Mr. Donald ~&. Smith, who is now the head of _ Arbutus Junior Secondary, and the vice-principal was Mr. J. Whyte. Of the original teaching Staff, Mrs. Hambrook, Mr. Troop, and Mrs. MacMurchie are still teaching. The two schools were on shift for four months. The population the first vear was 630 students, grades 7, 8 and 9. The old prin- cipal, of the original building, Mr. Kelly went to teach the senior high, the next principal was Mr. Smith. who was here for 11 years, ‘then Mr. Whyte was:an acting- principal for 6 months, and this year, we have Mr. Headley.
