Mrs. Whiting and. her husband William came to Sidney in 1909 from Sheffield, England. after a brief interlude of harvesting on the prairies. Mr. Whiting found employment at Sidney Mill. and for a time was bookkeeper at Harvey's Local Meat Market. He was also registrar of voters in the district for 20 vears. His wife entered into the community life of Sidney. Village and was long associated with St. Andrew's Church, the Guild and the Women’s Institute which then was active. She was a talented in -great..demand at dances in the area, and an ac- -companyist for the silent movies at the local picture show. In later years Mrs. Whiting lost her sight, but until leaving her residence at 9035° Resthaven Drive a month ago she retained a keen interest in local affairs.
