It must be agreed that it was full time to either try.a new gambit or box the pieces. - If it were merely a question of re-allocating the 150 beds to other hospital administrations there should be little delay in arriving at a solution. A very good case could be argued for transfer of the beds to the Rest ‘Haven Hospital administration for incorporation with the hospital to be built on Mount Newton Cross Road. Ample acreage is available and the Regional Board holds title to the 22-acre property. THE BARK of the Arbu -and don’t be caught agai ’ known in some locales) makes interesting designs and patterns when viewed at close range. Have an ADVENTURE IN SEEING next time you pass one © tus (or Madrona as it is n by that Page 1 puzzler. _ But disposal of the authorised extended care beds is “tied in with” plans to augment acute care ac- commodation in the Capital Region, and in this battle of wits there is little liklihood that conflicting interests ‘would allow a build-up of. the Peninsula hospital - facilities to the detriment of any intention to promote a o third general hospital to the west of the City. . If St. Joseph’s cannot expand in the present location. z the administration will look to the west: a site in the " general location of Burnside-Tillicum could well be the _ choice. of the Regional Board whose ultimate decisions. are swayed by the preponderant voting power of Vic- Ms toria and Saanich. ~ Supposition thata new hospital will be built to the west ‘introduces. -a further interesting, and we believe prac- ical, propos: ion. Week as speakers atthe evening. meeting, Aug. 30, at Sidney Bible Chapel, ‘in’ place of Mr, Dave BY JOHN SQUANCE The miracles recorded in the Bible are many and varied, and many and varied are the degrees of acceptance with which they are met. Strangely enough, organized religion, Western-style at least, is not at all united. in accepting or denying the supernatural powers. involved. Some: go to considerable lengths to compartmentalize the socalled miracles, saying, certain of them have historical backing, therefore must. be true. Others are legendary and may or may not be correctly recorded. A third group are classed as allegorical or symbolical and have no basis in fact. While I believe that this may be true of them, it is sad that this critical analysis of the miracle stories has the effect of side- tracking. many. minds from studying the laws by which they were accomplished. There are those who would ‘explain’ the miracles as being caused by. the use of natural laws which the witnesses. did not understand. Here we seem to come directly to WHAT is law, and WHERE is the line between understood laws of action ..and. reaction and those other laws of which we as yet have no knowledge. Some people hold to the idea that a miracle is the setting aside of natural laws by the intervention of God. Nor does this viewpoint necessarily mean that there is a setting aside of law.’ When we turn the knob on radio or TV and get a program. or picture, we are making. use of laws. The end result is a miracle usage.
