You've taught him to think of himself as Freddie Frog and how Freddie became a submarine searching for sunken treasure, Your child has a mind picture of his body as a submarine, complete with front and rear mo- tors —- his legs and hands. Now’s the time to teach him.to count leg motions in time to the motions of his hands. The proper count is six leg beats to one stroke of each of his arms — what is known as the six beat crawl. The child can be taught to complete one crawl sequence, raise his head to breathe; then repeat the sequence. You might tell him now he’s almost a submarine. In the last lesson you'll show him how to breathe and keep swimming. Then he’ll bea full-fledged submarine, able to swim and breathe at the same time. He’ll be able to watch for treasure all the time he’s moving through the water. Would you like to. have reprints of all ten lessons?
