In the 102 years since Confederation, Canada has admitted
a total of 9,697,282 immigrants, according to a statistical
survey released by the Department of Manpower and Im-

. migration.

The 1969 total of 161,531 immigrants reflects a decrease of

12.2 per cent compared to the p

revious year, but was 23.2 per

cent above the average of the previous 10 years.

labor force last year, 34.91 per cent were in the professional
or managerial categories; 27.79 per cent were classed in the

cent in the clerical, commercial or financial categories; 10.74

per cent in service occupations;
