Saanich council.

It is said that the population of
the nothern municipalities — is
growing rapidly, including an
ever-increasing proportion. of
retirement-age residents not
owning. or driving private. cars
and depending on. public tran-
sportation. An _. increasing
number of commuters to Victoria
is also mentioned:

“Councils do not pretend ex-
pertise in the operation of a
public bus system, but submit
that if there were the will to do so,
the Saanich bus routes could be
improved in both passenger
revenue and operating economy
to the point where any savings
through their discontinuation
would be insignificant.” states

Monday’s meeting of Central
