elementary school, Saanich
School Board on Monday evening
resolved to make a further series
of percolation tests with a.view
to installing a satisfactory
sewage disposal field.

Present arrangements entail
the use of a sewage holding tank
which must be emptied weekly ;
this procedure was ordered by
Dr. J.L.M. Whitbread, senior

School Buildings Superin-
tendent Bryan Shaw summarized
the disposal problems that have
been experienced, and explained
that Deep Cove school is built on
bedrock covered by. stiff clay,
with an overlay of topsoil.

“We will now drop a test grid in
the north-west corner where the
‘original school stood; have the
most exhaustive percolation tests
made by a soil consultant and
plan from there,” said Mr. Shaw.

“If the tests fail, then the senior
authority has suggested the
possible acceptance of a raised
earth disposal field,’ he added.

government ferry Queen of Victoria with a Russian freighter a
week ago Sunday are Doug Toller and son Gary of Heather
Road, North Saanich, who assisted ferry passengers hurt by
flying glass. Mr. Toller himself was cut around the eye when
observation lounge windows of the ferry shattered in the ac-
