The aims and aspirations of the Society for Pollution
and Environmental Control are most aptly explained by |
its title. Aurally and visually they were presented to a
concerned Deep Cove audience earlier this month and a
North Saanich branch of the Society was established.
_ Popularly known as SPEC, the Society has become

consider the gist of them.
Boiled down, they assert that
Mt. Edziza, near Telegraph
Creek in northern’ British
Columbia is unique in Canada:

glaciology of Mt. Edziza are. of

It seems, too, that the flora and
fauna associated with this
volcanic massif are of. unusual
scientific. importance.

In addition, there is an unique
assemblage of archeological sites
in and around Mt. Edziza, and the
historical Yukon Telegraph Line
which went over the-mountain is
still to be.seen.

The young volcanic rocks of
Mt. Ediziza.are not~ associated
with economic - metaliferous
deposits, states the final
