The tall, bespectacled out- doorsman, known throughout the United States as one of its top professional golfers of yesterday, is taking Saanich Peninsula youth under his wing. A resident here since 1968 when he moved on the “peaceful peninsula,”’ from Washington to a semi-retired life. Al has started a golf school free to any boy or girl from ages 8 to 18. He has long been considered an outstanding teacher of the game as well as a keen competitor. EVERY MONDAY His school. started Monday. at Ardmore Golf Course in West Saanich, and sessions will be held every Monday at 4:30 p.m. during the coming months. Al explains his actions in this way: — “Golf has been good to me and | want to impart to youngsters some of the knowledge and pleasure it has given me.
