DEAN PARK FIRE THREAT

Emphasizing that his estimates
are based on preliminary figures,
Ald. Cumpston gave Council a
brief resume of. expected costs.
Policing of the municipality
which last year cost $37,700 will
this year be increased by $8,350;
public. works which totalled
$75,600 in 1969, will go up to $3,000.
A minimum of $5,000 increase is
expected in welfare services
which last year cost North
Saanich $32,000 and public health
work has a minimum increase of
$3,000.

Mrs. Hazel Irene Moffat. died in
Victoria on April 3 aged 67 years.

Jones, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Rev. R.H. Pratt officiated
at. a.service held in Sands
Funeral Chapel of Roses; Sidney,
on. Monday and interment in the
Royal Oak Burial Park followed.

Merrett

Mrs. Laura Merrett who died in
Rest Haven Hospital on April 5
was 82 years of age. A native of
Buckingham county in England,
she had resided in Sidney for the
past eight months after a period
at Cordova Bay.

She is. survived by her husband,
Walter,. at’ home; her sons,
. Phillip of Sidney and Richard of
Calgary; six grandchildren’ and

The Rev. Gordon H. Walker
officiated at. a funeral service
today in Sands Chapel of Roses,

Formerly resident on Sidney
Avenue, Sidney, Mrs. Ellen
Victoria Milligan died this. week
in Toronto. Funeral service will
be held in Sands Chapel of Roses,
Sidney, on Thursday, the Rev. H.
McLean officiating. Interment
will be at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Predeceased by her husband,
John A. Milligan in 1965, Mrs.
Milligan is survived by one son,
Arthur of Vancouver, and a
daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Aileen)
White of Toronto. There are eight
grandchildren.

Marshall.

Ernest F. Marshall, residing at
10481 All Bay Road, died sud-
denly at his home on Tuesday
morning of this week. He was
predeceased by his wife in 1989.
He is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. Barry L.
(Shirley) Philbrook, Sidney;
Mrs. John L. (Barbara) Geddes,
Vancouver and Mrs. A. (Peggy)
Waibel, Prospect Lake, and eight
grandchildren.

Mr. Marshall was for many
years associated with . George
Paulin’s Travel Agency in Vic-
toria, and moved to Sidney on his
retirement.

Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. on
Thursday of this week in Sand’s
Chapel of Roses, Sidney, will be
conducted by the Rev. R. H.
Pratt.
