Hammerstein. musical Carousel
for production at the McPherson

- Playhouse from May 4 to May 9.
-. Rehearsals. are. being held on

evenings in the Servetus Hall,
Superior St. from 8 until 10 p.m.

are Tudor Jones, music; Allan
Purdy, stage direction and
Wynne Shaw, choreography.
Leading roles are being taken by

will benefit from a 29-day tour of
modern Russia by Jack Pollard,
retired building contractor of
' Victoria, to be shown in colored
slides taken during: his summer
vacation in 1968.

Landing at Leningrad, Mr.
Pollard. travelled to eight of
Russia’s. major cities, Kiev,
Odessa, Rostov, Stalingrad,
Baku, Tashkent and Alma-ata in
southern Siberia, and Moscow.

The showing will start at°7:30
P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at St.
Paul’s United Church Hall,
corner of 5th St. and Malaview.

The mother’s group for Sidney
Guides and Brownies. will be
serving coffee and cookies at
intermission time.

There will be a silver collection
at the door. No tickets~ are
needed. The proceeds will be
used to help with the new Scout
and Guide Hall.

A grant of $1,193.78 was
requested at Sidney council by
the Sidney Recreation: Com-
mission on Monday. Last year,
