Boy Scout - Girl Guide week,
February 15 to 22, is the annual
celebration honouring the late
Lord Robert Baden-Powell,; the

founder of the Scout movement..-

Sidney Tsartlip Group is one of
the oldest formations in the area,
and was established in May, 1913.
The week’s events will start on
Sunday, Feb. 15 with a sponsored
show at the Gem Theatre, and the
Cubs and Scouts Father and Son
banquet will be held in the Legion
Hall, Mills Road on February 20
at 6.30 p.m. Church Parade will
be on Sunday, February 22, the
time and place to be announced
later in The Review.

The regional social dinner for
Cub and Scout leaders was held

attendance. Chris Amos, 10, of
the. Brentwood. Pack was
awarded the Bronze Cross, the
highest award for. gallantry, to
commemorate his action ‘in
holding a drowning child above
water while the mother went for
help.

Mr. and Mrs. Amos were proud
of their son as he received his
award, and well they should be.
This is what Cubs and Scouts are
all about, in training to be
responsible citizens and to live up
to the Golden Rule.

Victoria Region, from Sooke to
Swartz Bay numbers 3,684 boys in
Cubs and Scouts, Venturers and
Rovers, and a total of 447 leaders
are working with the boys. In the
area are 89 Cub packs, 53 Scout
troops, 25 Venturer companies,
seven Rover crews and a total of
64 group committees.

Boys. of eight years and up-
wards of any nationality or creed
are most welcome to join.
