INVITATION TO TENDER

The Town of Sidney invites tenders for janitorial

work to be performed in the Senior Citizens’ Centre on

Resthaven Drive, Sidney, for the period March 1, 1972
to December 31, 1973.

Sealed. tenders properly identified as ‘Tender -
Janitorial Duties, Senior Citizens’ Centre’ will be
received by the Town Clerk, 2440 Sidney Avenue,
Sidney, British Columbia, until.3:00P.M., February 25,
1972.

Tender documents to be obtained from the Town
Hall.

Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

THE LAW IN REVIEW

QUESTION: On T.V. shows like Perry Mason I
sometimes hear them use expressions like ‘accessory
after the fact’, but I haven’t been able to figure out
exactly what it is..Could you help me out here? What is’
an ‘accessory after the fact’?

ANSWER: Although American Law used by Perry
Mason may be a little different, the definition of an
accessory after the fact in Canadian Criminal. law is
“One who knowing that a person has been a party to an
offence, receives, comforts, or assists him for the
purpose of enabling him to escape.” An example of this
would be sheltering a person whom you know has
robbed a bank or committed some other offence, and
telling the police you didn’t know where he was. An
accessory after the fact is liable to varying penalties,
depending on the circumstances.

QUESTION: I often have reason to drive near the
schocl on Resthaven Drive about the same time school
is getting out, and more often not there are groups of
young people walking down the road in. a very
unorganized manner, although there is a perfectly safe
sidewalk for them to use. know people can walk on the
road if-they are facing traffic, but ‘shouldn't they use
the sidewalk?

several rules for pedestrians, and one of these is that
