$3,400.00 so the children ‘can
really feel they have taken part in
paying off the loan.

In the year the hall has been

open, it has been the scene of a
Father and Son Banquet, Mother
and Daughter Banquet, the

presentations of a Silver Bronze

and Pioneer Challenge to Scouts,
Gold and All Round ‘Cords to
Guides, Wings.to Brownies and
numerous. youngsters enrolled to
carry on with Scouting . and
Guiding. American Girl Scouts

enjoyed our hospitality, the.

Scouts had a Ham Radio session -
talking to their counterparts as
far away as Tokyo.

Last weekend, .20 local Scouts
braved the winter elements and.
went camping. With their:
leaders, Mr. Paul Backhaus and
-Mr. Murray. Christian, they
travelled by truck from Sidney to
the Koksilah River area, N.W. of
Shawnigan Lake.

-As their campsite was a mile

and under two feet of snow, the
boys had to don: snowshoes: and
transport all their equipment by.
- toboggans.

This winter camp was mainly

‘under adverse conditions. It was»
also an opportunity to try out
their new camping gear ‘which:
was purchased recently by the
Group Committee: ~~
