Sunset Ae ¢ _ Wednesday, August 18, 1971 PAGE THREE [- BY DOROTHY JORDAN This. summer has seen the Sunset Riding Club busy as usual. We have had: four Playdays and one horse show so far this season. One of the Playdays was devoted entirely to games which proved to be a lot of ‘fun and so we are planning a few more of these. Other Playdays take in English and Western classes which are found at larger horse shows and as in the past trophies will be awarded for aggregate points in sorne of the classes at the end of the year. Last year we were able to have Piaydays right into November and weather permitting we hope to do the same this year. — Riding legsons have been - provided. for members at. a nominal fee and participation has been high. Earlier in the spring one of our members, Mrs, Colleen Hague, gave a session on showing at halter, which to the spectator looks easy but in fact is quite difficult.. Usually the horse doesn’t care if he is being shown to the best advantage or not. English lessons are being given by Mrs. Barbara Trickett every ‘Tuesday morning and Western lessons which are now finished were given by Mr. Merle Rim- mer. These lessons give everyone in the club the opportunity to learn better horsemanship. We have gained many new members this year and are very ~ pleased to have them with us. Of course we will always welcome more. Membership Fees are not high and we feel there is much. to benefit from: belonging. For Juniors eighteen years and under the annual dues are $1.50. Senior “Members $2.50 and Family _Membership is $5.00. If you wish‘. to make inquiries phone our | ~ secretary, Mrs. Dorothy Toller, at 656-3879. A Playday was, held. Dorothy Jordan - Sugar, DEAR IMOGENE My mum’s always been good about helping us out with our two kids, but since I had the third, she hasn't been offering to help like she did before. As you. can imagine, my hands are even more tied now, so I can’t think why she doesn’t want to baby-sit like she used to. It doesn’ t seem fair, does it. DEAR THIRD (UNLUCKY) I don’t blame your mother one ttle bit for slowing down her helping hands! You're very lucky that she has. co-operated so willingly in the past.
