He hopes to form a band to play
together for pleasure, and turn
out for special community
parades and events. Players of
any age. male or female, and
whether or not they have an in-
strument will be welcomed. “The
idea is to add a few musical fun
notes for the benefit of residents
of Saanich Peninsula,’* said Bill.
Especially desired. are
musicians who. play trumpet.
cornet. clarinet, alto or tenor sax,
French or’ E-flat: alto. horn,
trombone, baritone or
euphonium, tuba and percussion
instruments. ~

Bill joined ‘the RCAF at
Patricia. Bay in. 1940 . as. a
musician, and actually he. con-
tinued that vocation in the
service until 1969. Attaining
warrant rank,’ he was band-
master with No. 4 fighter wing at
Baden Baden in Germany, and on
his return to Canada he was a
member of. the Training. .Com-
mand Band’ in Winnipeg.
Residing now at - Emard
Terrace and employed as a
realtor in Sidney, Bill sees a
great opportunity for a -‘Fun
Band’. of perhaps -15~ to © 20

of the 26: passed the trial.
