Mind games at
heart of Thriller

Suspense and laughs — that's what local theatre fans
want, according to recent Terrace Little Theatre surveys.

And that’s just what they'll get, says TLT’s Karla Hen-
nig, She’s directing Thriller of the Year, the nail-biting
whodunnit with a touch of comedy and a lot of surprises.

After comedies, mysteries were the number one choice
of most people, and this play is both,

‘¢7('s a departure for me,’ Hennig says. ‘‘I've directed
comedies and mysteries, but trying to balance the comedy
with the scariness is a wonderful challenge.

‘<The suspense builds, and then the comedy relieves the

‘ suspense — and then it builds again,’’

Hennig, who’s directed more than 50 productions in the
past eleven years, predicts audiences will like that roller-
coaster effect.

‘It’s something that’s really different,’' she says, ‘and
it makes a terrific show,”

The story follows an award-winning mystery writer as
. she dodges the life'threatening events taken directly from
the plet of her book,

As Hennig says, ‘'The scariest parts of a thriller aren't
what you see, but what you imagine,’’

Thriller of the Year plays two weekends at the McColl
Playhouse, February 4-6, and 11-13, Tickets are on sale at
‘Carters Jewellers and the Bank of Montreal.
