CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM THE CORPORATION OF THE G U UNC L MAY 1 7 1993 B.R. Kirk DATE: May 13. 1993 City Administrator J.E. Yip, P. Eng., FILE: 900-265 & PWC Deputy City Engineer HANEY MAIN NO.3 - STAGE Dl WESTWOOD ST. TO MARY HILL BYPASS (Public Works Committee Meeting of May 11, 1993) RECOMMENDATION: l. That the City approve the revised alternative Haney Stage II watermain alignment in the vicinity of Oxford and Lougheed; and That the City grant the Greater Vancouver Water District permission to enter and construct anc gree to grant the District a right of way following construction of the portion of the Haney Main No. 3 crossing at the Coquitlam River. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The City previously approved the alignment of the Haney Stage II watermain along Oxford north of Lougheed and west along the lane south of Westminster to Cambridge. As a result of further study, the District now proposes a minor realignment, whereby the main would be installed along Westminster between Oxford and Cambridge. The District is scheduled to install 3 sections of the 54" diameter watermain this summer. These include two water crossings namely, Maple Creek and Coquitlam River and a section along Flint St. between Prairie and Dorset. The Flint St. work is to correspond with the upgrading work to be completed by the School District. Attached is a sketch showing the areas of work. At this time, the District is requesting that the City enter into an agreement which would grant the District permission to enter and construct and commits the City to entering into a right of way agreement following completion of the work. Attached is a copy of this agreement. It is recommended that the Council approve the realignment of the watermain in the Oxford area and grant the District permission to enter and construct on the Coquitlam River area. lua Bx DeputyCity Engineer JEY:ca attachment ENGCLK214
