f piste i. SH its ey St P ears THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: July 23, 1992 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer SUBJECT: That Council award the Shaughnessy Street underpass repair project to Kingston Construction Ltd. based on the tendered price of $36,997. That Council allocate $49,000 from the 1992 Public Works Capital Reserve Fund for this The City invited tenders from four construction companies for the Shaughnessy Street Underpass Repair Project and received two submissions, of which Kingston Construction was the lowest bid based on a cost of $36,997. The Public Works Committee considered the attached memo from the Project Engineer dated July 9, 1992 regarding the award of the Shaughnessy Street underpass repairs contract and recommends that the contract be awarded to the lowest tender - Kingston Construction Ltd. at the tendered price of $36,997. At the February 17, 1992 Council meeting, Council awarded the engineering work for the design, tendering and construction supervision for this project to KPA Engineering Ltd. at a cost of $11,300. The total cost for this project for construction and engineering wouid be approximately $49,000. As the 1992 budget estimate was $30,000, the Public Works Committee proposes to postpone the survey monument project (estimated at $17,500) until 1993 so that there would be sufficient funds to complete the Shaughnessy underpass project this year. As shown on the attached memorandum from the Project Engineer dated July 23, 1992, the Kingsway bridge will only have one lane open during construction and traffic control will be provided by portable electric traffic lights and a flag person as required. There will be only minor delays of a few hours on Shaughnessy at the underpass and this portion will be done at a convenient time. IRZ:ck Attachments
