RECOMMENDATION :
THAT Council pass the following resolution:

Whereas a major update of the City of Port Coquitlam Official
Community Plan has become necessary to guide future growth of the
City;

Whereas the first phase of this major update is due for completion
early in 19923 and °

Whereas the second phase of the major update of the City of Port
Coquitlam Official Community Plan is to be carried out during 1992,
with a completion date estimated in early 1993;

it resolved that:

The Planning Department be instructed to continue work towards the
rewriting of the City of Port Coquitlam Official Community Plan,
proceeding immediately with the second phage as soon as phase one is
completed; and

The Planning Department be authorized to submit an application to the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Recreation and Culture, for a
440,000.00 grant under the "1992 Planning Grant Program", as a
contribution towards the second phase of the drafting of a new
Official Community Plan (public input on preliminary draft, draft of
final document, bylaw approval and plan issuance).

DISCUSSION:

Completion of Phase I of the major update of the Official Community Plan
is anticipated by May 15, 1992, Development and completion of Phase II is
projected for completion in January 1993.

The work required for Phase II of the Official Community Plan should
qualify for a grant under the 1992 Planning Grant program. Therefore, the
Planning Department is requesting authorization to proceed with the
appropriate application to the Ministry of Municipal Affaire, Recreation and
Culture.
