The City Engineer stated his view that Langan Avanue . should not be closed due to > the fact that it vould create, an extrenely long cul-de-sac; residential Street. Mr. Sutter referted to ‘the Industrial Brochure on the area in question recently issued by the city and stated his opinion that the “situation would get much worse when Langan Avenue is extended through to “ingeway from Broadway and he advised that in traffic counts taken from 10: 00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today by residents of _the area, twelve heavy vehicles, eight smal] 11 connereial veh- icles, 101 L through cars, 16 local cars, and four local delivery vehicles were observed 1 to use Langan Avenue. Mr. Sutter suggested that rather than closing Langan Avenue at Broadway as had been originally Suggested, a closure in the middle of the 1700 block Langan may help to reduce the length of the cul-de- sac Spoken of by the > City Engineer. Alderman Meyer Stated his opposition to is proposal and. Stated that if Langan Avenue is closed it should be at the boundary between the residential and industrial area as shown in the City's brochure - Ryaa Street, Alderman Traboulay advised that the Traffic Committee would be considering this matter at the next : meeting and would include in their Considerat ic. the question, UNFINISHED BUSINESS: City Solicitor From the City Solicitor, June 26th, 1973, advising that the } Municipality re regulation of bicycles & Young does net have. the required authority under the Municipal Act to regulate bi~ Offenders Act from SM Leggatt, cycles and from Mr. Stuart Leggatt, N.P., enclosing a copy of the Young MP. —— Offenders Act as hadbeen requested by the Council.
