Grand Master Ta Tchen Tchoung, president of the Chinese T’ai Chi Chuan Association of Canada, has taught in Taiwan, South Africa, the U.S., and Vancouver, Several of his students have gone on to teach in Canada, : the U.S. and abroad. One of his students, Francis Tsen, will” assist him at the workshop. . Another of his students — Peter Dickson — who gained — _.teaching status in 1986, also instructs T’ai Chi in Terrace. He teaches five classes a week in Kitimat and Terrace. The thousand-year-old Chinese art combines concentration -and calmness of mind and breathing with slow, graceful movements to attain a relaxed state of both mind and body. You don’t have to be in good physical condition to begin learning T’ai Chi — people of all ages and fitness levels prac- tice it. When used for self-defence, calmness of mind and flexibility of body can overcome even powerful attacks.
