There has been a trend in industries relocating to outlying suburbs where land is more plentiful and relatively affordable. ‘The Dominion Triangle, in the eastern side of the City of Port Coquitlam, is an ideal setting for industry and business by virtue of ite central lscation in the region, accessibility and visibility. As Port Coquitlam's existing industrial areag are nearing capacity and no other large vacant areas are designated for industrial use, the Dominion Triangle has the potential of becoming a _ significant part of the City's economic and employment base. The City's first Official Community Plan (0.C.2.), adopted in 1986, designated the Dominion Triangle as "Reserve Employment" land. Its exclusion from the Agricultural Land Reserve in December, 1990 created the opportunity to further examine the desired pattern of development for the Triangle. This Area Control Plan (ACP) has been prepared to complement the 0.C.?P. by providing additional guidelines for proposed development.
