A l-storey building (masonry construction) - $155,000.00. (a prefabricated, metal building would cost less than $155,000.00 while a prefabricated, precast concrete building would cost more than $155,000.00). Moved by Alderman Traboulay: seconded by Alderman Laking: That as recommended in a report from the Building & Protection Committee, May 2nd, 1975, concerning construction of the proposed North Side Fire Hall, plans be prepared and tenders called for a one-storey prefabricated metal building and that provision be made for architectural treatment of the front of the building (cedar siding or decorative brick). Withdrawn, Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed resolution, a discussion ensued and it was noted that the cost of a one-storey building would be approximately $155,000.00, while a 2-storey building (with the second floor roughed in) would cost only about $30,000.00 more. The Fire Chief mentioned that the second floor of the present fire hall is used for a number of public functions and seats about 120 persons; however, he stated he did not feel the place for public assembly is over a fire hall. Alderman Traboulay stated he was prepared to withdraw his motion, and the following was then proposed: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That with respect to construction of the proposed North Side Fire Hall, plans be prepared and tenders called for a 2~storey building with the second floor roughed in (no stairs), at the estimated cost of $185,000.00.
