On tnvitation of His Worehip the Mayor, Mr. Pewell spoke to the meeting and
produced. a photograph t taken from his driveway on Christmas day, on which a record
amount. of rain fell, illustrating the accumulation of surface water, and stating
that although 4 survey has. ben carried out to straighten the lane, nothing has
been done-as yet to: alleviate the drainage problem. Mr. Powell expressed his con-
cern that a child playing in the lane may accidentally be drowned auring a heavy
run-off, snd stated he disclained any responsibility for such a tragedy occurring
Alderman Ranger stated he was at Mr. Powell! 's residence on Christmas day during
the. heavy rainfal? %, and that the water situation was due in part to the culvert
under Mr. Powell's driveway being | blocked. Alderman Ranger advised that if any
monies: are > expended, it would be to put in drain tile and cover the ditch to con-
trol. the run-off and . shift the travelled portion cf the lane to the West side.
“Aldersan Ranger mentioned that -the Surveyor ‘has had. a considerable amount of dif-
