7 . . _ _ . The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - A7 Scott has not been in parliament repre- senting this region for many years, and elec- ° tion signs that appear designed to dupe the unwary voter into believing that he has been Skeena’s MP in the last parliament are a bla- tant twisting of the truth: While it may be true that Mike Scott once represented the Terrace area in federal politics, his record was memorable for little more than blind opposition. to the Nisga’a treaty and saying all the “right” things to his supporters in private business and industry. _ Scott had a questionable record at best as a local MP, and the deceitful campaign ef- forts noted above make the concept of his election i in Skeena- -Bulkley Valley even more Dear Sir: _ Tam writing with a question about the election signs that 1 see on the roads around me. Why.do we have two.different candi- dates signs reading “Re-elect”. It is my un- derstanding that Nathan Cullen won the last federal election and is therefore running for re-election. Although his opponent was elected once’ he was running for a different party and ina riding that has also changed. While it may well be legal to pretend you are the incumbent it is certainly not ethical. This action does not support one of his par- ties supposed main policies, ethics. Larisa Tarwick, Terrace, B.C, Four-day week scares them off. Dear Sir: . Lam considering employment in Terrace and was stunned when I realized your school board only offered a four-day day school week, What am I to do with my children _oni Fridays? I am considering a position in Terrace because it offers Monday to Friday hours (something I currently don’t have) thus ensuring my children are in school and supervised while [am at work. [have a son _ who needs a good, solid, consistent educa- tion and constant adult supervision. A city- run program on a Friday afternoon doesn’t provide what he needs, nor what his older sister needs, It is unfortunate to say, but your town will not be welcoming this profession- al, her family and all we have to invest in your community because of this issue. The school board ‘trustees need to care- fully consider their current policy. There are _ other ways to deal with cost constraints than cutting the number of days all our children | have available to be educated by one-fifth.
