Oath of office
— 257. An officer, before entering on the duties of bis office, shall make and subscribe an. oath to the
following effect: )

Oath of allegiance

258. An officer ora permanent employee, before commencing employment, shall take and subscribe
an oath of allegiance in the following form: . '

I, , do promise and swear that I will be faithful-and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty

Sickness or other benefits

259. Without restricting the generality of section 252, the council may by bylaw provide the whole or
a part of the premium for

(a) a contract for medical services provided oa a group basis for employees or employees and
their dependents;

—(b)a benefit, accident, sickness or life insurance policy i insuring employees of the municipality
O0 a group insuraace basis against accident, sickness or death; .

(c) an accident insurance policy i insuring members of the council, a civic commission, the .
advisory p! lanning commission or the board of variance, on a group insurance basis, against
accident while on official business. for the municipality. ©

262. (1) The council may, by a vote of not. less than U3 of all members, pay a sum required for the
- prote ection, defence or indemnification of an officer or employee of the municipality ora member of its council,
where an action or. prosecution is brought against him in connection. with the performance of his duties, or where.
an inquiry under Part 2 of the Inquiry Act or other proceeding involves the administration of a department of the:
~ mupicipality. or: the conduct of a part of the municipal business, and costs necessarily incurred and: damages
