The peaks during the spring and fall of 1981 centre around several chemical waste issues, as well as the urea formaidenyde insulation problem. Acid rain also receives periodic attention. Regionaliy, coverage is evenly spread across the country. In a change from the past, concern for the environment in Quebec has become equal to that in the rest of Canada. PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERNS DOMINATE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES Despite the climate of economic uncertainty in the past few years, the issue of environmental damage has continued to be an important one. There appears to be no public willingness to accept environmental damage as a trade-off for economic growth. eee f2,
