HIGH TECH KILN CONSTRUCTION: Mon. - Fri. Aug. 5 - lt,
9 a.m.-5 p.m. Assist Hank Murrow cf Applied Design
Group, Kugene, Cregon, with the installation of the
new Burnaby Arts Centre kiln. Participants will have
"honds on experience" in the construction of a
high-tech kiln and will prepare werk for the test
firings. Fee: $50.00. 10 sessicns. Nete: The
lecture with Hank Murrow is included in the registra-
tion fee,
A DIFFRRENT KINU OF KILN-LLLUSTRATED LECTURE with
Hank Murrow. Hank Murrow, potter, kiln designer anc
builder will show slides of the many kilns he has
ouLilLt and discuss why he has come to use fibre, stain-
less steel, and other high-tech materials and instru-
ments in his latest design. Thurs. Aug. 7, 7 p.m.
Fee: $5.00. 1 session.

RAKU WORKSHOP with John Pickering. An in-depth work-
shop that will cover basic raku techniques and
specialized techniques, like joins for hand-building,
throwing upside down and raku clay and glasge recipes,
John Pickering studied ceramics at The University of
California (Santa Barbara) & Emily Carr College of
Art & Design. He specializes in large raku pieces
and has recently completed a commission for the
Mandarin Hotel and exhibited in "Clay Seulpture 1984".
Mon. July 8 & Tues. July 9, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. and
Sat. July 20, 9 a.m. - 5 pam. Fee: $49.50.

GLAZE DECORATION TECHNIQUES. Instructor: Luis Reira.
Design development and glaze decoration techniques will
be covered in this course for students who want te
learn new ideas and techniques. Bring bisqued work

to the first class. Tues. July 16 & Wed. July 17,
