New Terrace treatment plant to be designed by Prince © George company TERRACE — The municipal council has approved a recommen- dation from the Public Works and Transporta- tion Committee to award KLM Engineering of Prince George the design contract for Terrace’s secondary sewage treat- ment plant. City administrator Bob Hallsor said that three of the partners in the new engineering company are former employees of Stanley Associates, the firm that worked on previous studies of Terrace’s sewage treatment re- quirements. Hallsor stated that the engineers - are familiar with the pro- blems involved and will be designing a system that incorporates the ex- isting primary treatment plant, The proposed secon- dary treatment system will attach settlement ponds and aerated lagoons to the present operation. Effluent quality from the finished treatment system | will bring the city’s waste discharge into the Skeena River within Ministry of Environment guidelines. The 1986-87 municipal budget provides $291,650 for work this year. Total construction budget for the proposed facility is $1.6 million over a period of five years.
