Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Wright: That the report from the Leisure Activities Committee, November 2nd, 1979 recommending the operation-of the concession locatéd © in the Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre by the Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association, be approved. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Keryluk referred to the letter from the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 498, representing the City employees, requesting that the operation of tha concession stand be discussed between management and the union and stated in his opinion the matter should be tabled until such discussions are held. Alderman Wright referred to the clauses in the Leisure Activities Committee report and. advised he was not in agreement with several items and stating in his opinion P.C.A.A.A. should not have a great number of restrictions set down regarding the running of the concession. Mr. M. Forrest, representative of the Concession Steering Committee, was present and stated he had not been aware until now that C.U.P.E. Local 498 had any objections to P.C.4.A.A.. running the concession. Mrs. M.J. Cillis spoke to Council on behalf of C.U.P.E. Local 498 advising of the Union's position. Alderman Ranger spoke regarding the operation of the concession and asked Mr. Forrest to explain the proposed system of operation P.C.A.A.A. plans to use for the concession. Mrs. Shirley Armillotta, of the P.C.A.A.A., was present and stated that the concession stand is one way the Association would be able to make money for minor sports. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That the report from the Leisure Activities Committee, November 2nd, 1979 regarding operation of the concession in the Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre by the Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association be deferred until a meeting is held between the Council and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 498. Carried.
