A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C. on February 6th, 1978. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Recreation Director Janna Taylor and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Minutes - Moved by Alderman Ranger: pera 30th, Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on January 30th, 1978, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. Alderman Traboulay asked that the Committee item regarding servicing Ald. Traboulay re Marpole Ave. requirements for the proposed commercial development by Frank Findlay Comm. Dev. and Jack Giesbrecht on Marpole Avenue be discussed in open Council. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That the memorandum from the City Engineer, February Ist, 1978 regarding the servicing requirements for the proposed development by Frank Findlay and Jack Giesbrecht on Marpole Avenue be discussed in open Council. Carried. Aldermen ; gainst the resolution. DELEGATIONS: Delegations: Insps. Oosthoek - & Young re Policing- RCMP Mayor Campbell introduced Inspectors A. Oosthoek and M. Young of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Inspector Oosthoek then made a presentation to Council on Policing requirements in the Port Coquitlam area and recommended four additional Police officers be hired. a) Discussion then ensued and the Council asked for clarification on the type of policing that would be done with the increased manpower and Inspector Young advised the assigning of a police officer to a youth squad is of a high priority.
