Carried, At this time, Alderman Keryluk expressed his wish to be removed as the representative to the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board of Directors, and the Mayor stated that he would take this under advisement. Alderman Thompson referred to a Greater Vancouver Regional District Bulletin in which it was stated that the G.V.R.D. Housing Department would effer assistance to Developers at any Public Hear: .3s regarding housing and requested clarification of this statement. Alderman Laking advised that following lengthy discussions at the G.V.R.D. meeting it was determined that before they can take any action, on. behalf of. a Developer, they must first contact the municipality to determine the facts involved. Alderman Thompson raised the question of the problems surrounding the recent Recreation Programme Registrations and Alderman Ranger advised that both the Leisure Activities Committee and the Recreation Department are aware of the many problems and have been investigating alternate methods of registration procedures and in the Fall will be trying the Burnaby method of 'mail-in' registrations. Alderman Laking enquired as to the status of the proposed new Garbage Bylaw and was advised by the City Engineer that it was awaiting the return of the Public Works Committee Chairman. Alderman Laking suggested a meeting be held with representatives from the local Hunting and Fishing Club and the Federal Fisheries Department with respect to finding a suitable time to arrange for removal of gravel from the Coquitlam River as a real problem is developing with the formation of new sand bars and bank errosion. Alderman Traboulay advised that the Environmental Protection Committee would take the suggestion under advisement as it had been scheduled to be discussed by the Committee this year. Alderman Ranger noted with reference to the previous comments regarding probiems during registration that this was the first time that a full winter programme had been offered at Hyde Creek Centre and that therefore it was the 'first time’ for many of the staff for such procedures. Alderman Thompson assured him that he had heard no complaints regarding the staff but rather about the general registration procedures themselves.
