January 20th, 1975 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C. on January 20th, 1975, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen G.R. Laking, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay, in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.C. Borch, *. Eng., Recreation Director Janna Taylor, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Minutes - Jan.13/75 Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on January 13th, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A letter from The Corporation of Delta, January 7th, 1975, concerning Corp.Delta re proposed the proposed office building by the Greater Vancouver Regional District, GVRD office bldg.comple that was deferred at the previous meeting pending a discussion thereon at the Council Committee meeting with Mr. A.C. Kelly, Chairman of the G.V.R.D., which was held following conclusion of the meeting first above mentioned, was then submitted for further consideration. It was stated in the letter that the Delta Council requested the Minister of Municipal Affairs to investigate all of the circumstances pertaining to the proposal by the Regional District, and had also adopted a resolution requesting the support of those members of the Regional District whose directors on further, that the Councils of such municipalities be asked to take similar action if they deem it appropriate. Mayor Campbell referred to the discussion held with Mr. Kelly, and reminded the Council that Mr. Kelly had explained that the District of Burnaby had asked the G.V.R.D. to purchase the entire parcel of Jand in question so that it could be an "urban" type of development, and he stated he agreed with the purchase of the land; however, the size of the complex should be studied. A‘uerman Thompson inquired whether the complex was actually required, and Mayor Campbell advised that the G.V.R.D. is at full capacity now.
