“I had to make a split second decision
— do I hit the back end of the first moose or
hit the head of the other one that would have
probably come through the window and hit
me,” Scott said.

“While Scott, who was by himself in the
vehicle at the time, was uninjured, the moose
died soon after the collision.

A passing road maintenance vehicle
stopped’ to assist. Scott by calling the acci-
dent in to the maintenance company’s office. .

“The roads were fairly decent but we’ve
had some mild weather and then it dropped
to minus five — nothing unusual for win-
ter roads,” Scott said, adding he was going
slower than the posted speed limit because
he knew the surface could be slippery.

ICBC is assessing the damage to Scott’s

vehicle, but he suspects it may be a write- i

off.
* Scott considers: himself lucky that he
wasn’t hurt in the accident. “I’m 51 years old
and I drive extensively with the construction

-biz that we own and so forth and P’ve had a

couple close encounters with moose over the

years but nothing like this,” he says. ‘It hap-

pens so quickly you just don’t believe it.”
He was wearing his seatbelt.
