There are 210 boys in the scouting movement in Ter- race, guided by 52 leaders and almost 300 girls in the guiding movement. The B.C./Yukon Northern Region is geographically the largest in North America. Terrace District is the only one within the region which expanded its membership at every level last year. by Betty Barton To start off Scout-Guide Week this year, the Terrace membership will be conducting a ‘“‘Working’’ Mall Display in the Skeena Mall on Feb. 20th. There will be first aid demonstrations, crafts and friendship stick pro- ductions, a fish pond, other ac- tivities and the Pathfinders will do some ‘‘clowning around’’ in the afternoon, In the morning, the Pathfinders will participate in a ‘‘clown’’ workshop presented by Elizabeth - Snyder and Judy Chrysler. The local Pathfinders will be hosting a group of Pathfinders from the Queen Charlotte Islands the weekend of Feb. 20 in a camp to be held at Knox United Church. The girls will participate in cooking activities, discuss international issues and end the weekend with a trip to Mount Layton Hotsprings. For ‘the five Scout troops in Terrace, parent and son ban- ‘quets are happening the week of Feb. 22-26. And the Terrace Guides will have a visit from the Kitimat Guides on Feb. 28. In court In Terrace provincial court on Monday, January 11 Richard Donahue was given one 30-day jail sentence and an additional 30-day consecutive sentence for. two counts of failure to comply with a condition of recognizance. Feb. 27 will see the whole scouting and guiding movement in Terrace at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre, along with their families and friends, to celebrate Thinking Day. Thinking Day is celebrated each year on or close to, Feb. 22, which is the birth- day of both Lord ‘and Lady Baden-Powell, the founders of Scouting and Guiding. Starting at 2 p.m., the after- noon will include bagpipe music, singing, dancing, showing the colors, renewing the promise of the Scouting and Guiding move- ment, and a short talk on the spiritual history of Scouting and Guiding.
