THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ~4- ITEM V_ continued Re: Parking Problems at Two Locations In the meantime it was brought to my attention that the problem was not on Kingsway but on Bedford. As a result of this further infor- mation, I have instructed the Public Works Superintendent to install a barrier along Bedford from the Stop sign’ back about twenty feet in order to prevent angle parking in such a way that the Stop sign is obscured and to prevent these angle parked vehicles from creating a problem in backing out on to the street. The possibility of creating parallel parking only on the remainder of the street will be considered at the next Public Works Committee meeting. We have also received complaints about parking problems at Metro Motors. Cars are angle parked along Hastings Street and often protrude into the travej. lane. ‘The Company also uses the unopened road allowance of Shaftsbury Avenue for vehicle storage, Attached Sketch Number 3 shows the locations. As the lot to the North ts onlr a thirty-~ three foot lot, these parked vehicles are very close to the house. Another complaint is that the fire hydrant is-often completely cut off by parked vehicles. : The Committee recommends that the parking along Hastings Street be controlled by the installation of parallel parking signs and that Metro Motors be written a letter asking them to refrain from parking in such a way as to cut off the hydrant and asking them to deal with the dust raised by their use of Shaftsbury Avenue for parking.
