That the following resolution be submitted to the 1976 Convention
of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities:

WHEREAS the recent increase in Provincial Sales Tax from five
i percent (5%) to seven percent (7%) increases the cost burden borne by
local property owners;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that as Municipalities are exempt from Federal

Sales Tax on certain capital expenditure items purchased, the Provincial

Government be requested to grant Municipalities exemption from the seven

| percent (7%) Sales Tax on all articles purchased for the exclusive use

of the Municipality. Carried.

That the Agreement between The Corporation of the City of Port an

Coquitlam and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local No. 498,

wherein the wages, salaries, hours of work, and other conditions of

employment for the employees of the City for whom the Union is recognized

as the Collective Bargaining Agency, is set out for the year 1976, be

approved;

cl gE , THAT the three Letters of Understanding respecting participation in

fringe benefits, cost of living allowance, and compressed work week be

similarly approved;

AND THAT the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the said

Agreement on behalf of the City and affix the Corporate Seal thereto.
