Report from the Public Works Committee meeting held Friday, April 19th, 1974 at 7:00 a.n. In attendance: Alderman M.A. Thompson Alderman J.J. Keryluk Mrs. J. Pleasants, The Enterprise V.G. Borch, P. Eng. ITEM I Re: Department of Highways - Lougheed Highway Widening Attached for information please find copies of correspondence dated March 26th, 1974 and April lOth, 1974. The Committee makes the following recommendations for Council's consideration. i. The City agree to pay the appropriate share of stree. lighting on the Lougheed Highway from Westwood to Oxford. This share . would be consistent with the information outlined in the Department of Highways letter of April 10th, 1974, 2. The Committee recommends that the necessary traffic, signal ducts be installed as part of the highway widening project at the Oxford and Coast Meridian intersections. If under existing Department of Highway policy it will be necessary for the City to share in the cost of installing these ducts, the Committee would recommend that the City so indicate. 3. The Department of Highways have recommended that Jervis and Lancaster Street north of the Lougheed Highway be closed at the north boundary of the Lougheed Highway. Previously the City Suggested that this would be satisfactory providing Shaftsbury Avenue would be constructed from Jervis to Hastings. It is now apparent that because two existing businesses at Jervis and at Lancaster have no access to the highway that access to these businesses will be extremely difficult and circuitous to say the least. Because these businesses have no access to the Lougheed Highway the Committee recommends that the Department of Highways be requested to place right turn in, right tura out access at Jervis Street and Lancaster Street similiar to that provided at Raleigh Street and that the Department of Highways be advised that if this request is acceded to it will not be necesary to construct Shaftsbury Avenue. The Committee also recommends that the lane access to the highway between Raleigh and Jervis Streets be maintained. a eee a ITEM IT Re: Water Connections ~ Devon Street — District of Coquitlam Attached please find correspondence dated April 4tn, 1974 from
