Regional coordinator Joan Cox says a $5,000 grant from the Special Olympics provincial office has made the Irip to Cranbrook possible, Five bowlers and one coach will be flying down for the event during the first weekend in May. And fundraising is already underway for the BC Special Olympics Summer Games in Coquitlam next summer, Cox says Terrace and Kitimat hope to send albleles to compete in bowling, swimming and track-&-field. And the 1996 Special Olympics scason wrapped up April 12 and 13 with a sports weckend. Cox says about 30 bowlers from Hazelton, Kitimat and Terrace participated in a mini-tournament Saturday afternoon followed by a banquct catered by the Legion ladies that evening. And on Sunday 19 swimmers from Terrace, Prince George and Kitimat competed with Terrace Blueback swimmers in the Pizza Hut invilational swim tournament.
