Updating the Cost of Prints Sold to the Public
(Public Works Committee Meeting of March 8, 1988)

Recommendation:

That the price of various engineering maps, prints and
other reproductions being soid over the counter be Increased as

per the attached Schedule B to this report.

Background and Comments:

it has been some time since the price list for maps and
plans produced by the Engineering Department for sale over the
counter to the public has been updated. While it is not the
intention of the Department to make a profit on the sale of
these reproductions it has become quite evident that a portion
of the actual cost involved in the generation of these
engineering reproductions has been subsidized by the City.

Accordingly it is the Department's proposal to upgrade the
present price list to reflect something closer to what the
actual cost is for making these reproductions. Schedule B
attached to this memo summarizes the proposed prices for the
various types of reproductions provided to the public by this
department. The proposed price list is similar to those of
other municipalities.

The Public Works Committee members are unanimous in
supporting this proposed price increase. We have been advised
by the City Clerk that a Resolution of Counci} is required
before this new price list can be implemented.
