SUBJECT: Tenders for a Microcomputer

RECOMMENDATION:

That the lowest tender from Computerland in the
amount of $12,942.60 te approved for a microcomputer system to
be purchased with the Sewer Utility Funds as approved in the

(1982 Budget.

BACKGROUND AND. COMMENTS:

'. The requirement for a microcomputer system has been
idéntified in the 1982 Sewer Utility Budget. It will be used
by the Engineering Department in the preparation of servicing
plans for the "Official Community Plan" for proposed
developments or land uses and for Development Cost Charge

Bylaws.

Tenders for supplying the microcomputer system were
invited from 12 computer dealers. However, only 2 firms

submitted their quotations for microcomputers. Details of the
quotations are summarized in the attached Summary of Tenders

Received.

The system proposed by Radio Shack supports a less
powerful and less flexible system software and has an
unacceptably long delivery date. The tender is 46.5% higher
than the lowest tender and the cost exceeds our budget.
