ALDERMEN'S REMARKS: Alderman Muldoon addressed the meeting and expressed her appreciation to the citizens of Port Coquitlam for their support during the election. Alderman Muldoon then invited the citizens to call upon her when they had any concerns. Alderman Wright addressed the meeting and expressed his appreciation to the citizens of Port Coquitlam for their support at the polls for his re~election and thanked members of his family for their help and support during his campaign. Alderman Wright advised he served on two committees with retiring Alderman Ranger, as Co~Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee and Chairman of the Building and Protection Committee, and stated he enjoyed working with him. Alderman Wright advised that the new fire truck had arrived during 1980 and advised that the Building and Protection Committee also included a new program for Emergency Measures with coordinator Mr. Bob Lajoie. Alderman Wright expressed his appreciation to City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng. for his help during the year with flood control and advised he served on the Library Committee to work towards building a new library building and stated he also served on the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board and expressed his appreciation to Miss Joanne Birnie, Miss Ada Con and Ms. Linda Kabush for their help. Alderman Wright advised he had also attended meetings for the United Way Campaign in 1980. Alderman Wright advised he is looking forward to working in the City for the next two years and referred to the proposed Mary Hill Bypass and the Light Rapid Transit program for the NE Sector. Alderman Wright stated he is looking forward to serving the people of Port Coquitlam and thanked everyone for their support and vote of confidence. Alderman Gates advised 1980 has been very rewarding and congratulated Aldermen Wright, Traboulay and Muldoon on their election and expressed his appreciation to the staff for their help and to Alderman Keryluk for his support on the Environmental Protection Committee and on the Parks and Recreation Committee. Alderman Gates advised he served as Port Coquitlam's representative on the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Board and on the Simon Fraser Union Board of Health. Alderman Gates advised he supported Mr. Keith Ballantyne in his work on Light Rapid Transit and expressed appreciation to Mr. Ballantyne regarding this.
