Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Keryluk stated that he could not support the motion in the form presented, From the City Administrator, August 27th, 1976, referring to a recent City Adm.re self-serve amendment to the Business Licence By-law setting out a specific category gas station application for self-serve gasoline stations and advising the instructions of the City's Solicitor were that if Council wished to regulate the number of such outlets in the City, this could be done by business licencing with any applicants being referred to Council for ruling. In his report, the City Administrator further advised that the Licence Inspector would like Council to rule on an application that has now been received from Pacific Petroleums Ltd. to change its station at 1523 Prairie Avenue to a self-serve operation, and he pointed out that the applicant must be given an opportunity to be heard. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That a hearing on the application of Pacific Petroleums Ltd. to change its gas station at 1523 Prairie Avenue to a self-serve operation be held at the regular Council meeting on September 13th, 1976. City Adm.re late UBCM. res- olutton-Prov. grant-ambul- ance services From the City Administrator, August 27th, 1976, referring to a late resolution passed at the July 12th, 1976 Council meeting for forwarding to the Union of-B.C. Municipalities Convention in September with respect to the present inequalities in the grant to municipalities for ambulance services, and stating that at a meeting with representatives of the Emergency Health Services Division, he was advised that the rate for reimbursement to municipalities is being increased; also, it is quite possible the Department may provide an ambulance unit to be stationed at the City's Fire Hall.
