He enlisted in the navy in March of 1943 at the age of 19. Basic training was in Edmonton and Victoria after which 10 months service was in Quatsino, a Bangor class minesweeper and sub chaser with a crew of 90 based in Vistoria followed eS by a long period of shore base postings at Naden, Givenchy and the British base Coventry at Comox. Larry was discharged in mid-November of 1945 and he then took an auto body repair course/training and ‘moved to Terrace where work was steady. 2005 is the Year of the .
