White takes definitive lead

AFTER BOTH Team Red
and Team White encoun-
ter losing streaks in the
2001-02 Midget House
League season, it appears
that Blue may be in the
midst of one themselves,

Team Blue entered
week 11 looking to put an
end to their 3-game
skid. But, in the Monday
night match-up they were
facing Team White, a
team that has been unbea-
ten in their last four
outings. Nevertheless,
‘Team Blue put stats aside
and focused on the task-at-
hand,

Play stayed even
through most of the first
period, but at 6:33 it was
White that opened the
scoring on a goal from
Arron Parhar.

Later in the period with
2:18 to go, Chad Stanley
went on a breakaway and
although Stanley was stop-
ped, Matt Asselstine was
there to scoop up the re-
bound and put White in
front 2-0,

Team Blue was pretty
quiet in this game, White. ,

went up 3-0.in: the second:

Blue showed that they
weren't about to give

Team Blue on an assist
from Chris Schlenker. It
was only 42 seconds later
when Blue went up 2-0,
with Eric Hull picking up
the marker.

Blue kept the ball roll-
ing and at 7:35, Kristian
Gough scored his eighth of
the year and natrowed the
lead to 5-3. Then, with
6:17 remaining, Brian
Todd posted his second of
the game and just like
that, we have a hockey
game,

With only a 5-4 lead,
Team Red was suddenly
running into trouble. With
less than two minutes left,
Blue pulled their goalten-
der for an extra attacker
and tried to tie the game.

But, a giveaway resul-
ted in Tyler Latimer pick-
ing up the puck and put-
ting it in the open net.

Blue made it interesting
at the end, but lost the
match-up to Team Red, 6-
4,

With the win, Team
Red moved into second
place for the first time of
the séason, with a 1-point
